Water Resources Solutions has completed numerous Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) for our government clients and for contractors.

When land disturbance for design improvements range between the minimum that triggers local regulatory oversight, the SWPPP’s purpose is to provide guidance to the contractor for protecting the water quality of stormwater runoff from the site. This protection includes guidance on runoff controls to protect water quality due to erosion and sediment and chemical spills.

The SWPPPs contained the following sections

• Erosion and Sediment Control Plan

• Spill Prevention Plan

• Spill Response Plan

• Hazardous Materials Storage Plan

Each of these plan components includes guidance to the contractor on prevention and response to runoff contamination events such as erosion and spills. For spill, emergency contacts are provided to the contractor so the proper authorities are contacted in a timely manner to minimize the damage due to a spill.

Typical chemicals that are addressed in the spill prevention and response plans, and the hazardous materials storage plans include:

• Fertilizers

• Pesticides

• Petroleum Products

• Sanitary Waste

• Paint

• Hazardous Materials

WRS prepares SWPPP documents per local, regional, state, and federal requirements, as well as according to the requirements based on the phasing and design discussed with the client and contactor.
